Butterscotch Puppy Chow



So, I am slightly obsessed with puppy chow... and so is my boyfriend.  It's simple to make and very versatile.  Since my boyfriend is away working for the summer again I decided to send him a package as I usually do.  And puppy chow was the first thing on his list of what he wanted me to send (after more clean underwear of course).  But I mixed it up a bit on him and made it with butterscotch chips instead of chocolate because he will eat the entire bag of butterscotch chips if I have them on hand.  He hasn't gotten the package yet but I can't wait to see how excited he is when he gets it.  Thats the best part about sending him a package, he loves it and gets soooo excited.


The ingredients for this are:

  • 6 cups Crispix or Chex cereal
  • 1 cup Icing sugar
  • 1 cup Butterscotch chips
  • 1/4 cup Peanut Butter

I start by putting the icing sugar in a large ziplock bag.
Put the cereal in a large bowl.
Then in a smaller bowl, microwave the butterscotch chips and peanut butter until melted (at 30 second intervals).
Pour the melted butterscotch chips and peanut butter over the cereal and stir until the cereal is evenly coated.
Pour the coated cereal into the ziploc bag, seal it and then shake it until covered in icing sugar.
And its ready to go!!


Sometimes I make puppy chow and then mix it into nuts and dried fruit to make a sort of trail mix.  Its very addicting!

M&M Pretzel Cookies

I've seen so many recipes of chocolate chips with pretzels in them and since I love salty/sweet food I knew I needed to try it.  I used my favourite chocolate chip cookie recipe but substituted M&Ms and pretzels in instead of the chocolate chips.


Needless to say, I was in love.  The pretzels add the perfect amount of crunch and salt to the cookie.  Definitely one for the books!


For this recipe, you need:
3/4 cup of softened butter
1/4 cup of canola oil
1 cup of sugar
1 cup of brown sugar
2 eggs
1 tsp. of baking soda
1 tsp. of baking powder
1 tsp. of salt
1 tsp. of vanilla
3 cups of flour
1 cup of m&ms
1 cup of crushed pretzels


Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.
Cream butter, oil and sugars together.
Add the two eggs and vanilla and beat the batter until it is fluffy.
Add in the dry ingredients (baking soda, baking powder, salt, flour).
Fold in m&ms and pretzels.
Form 1 inch balls and bake for 8-9 minutes.


This recipe is perfect for soft cookies, and is very versatile.  Just add in whatever you want instead of the m&ms and pretzels :)!
