DIY Chia Pets

With graduating and my 22nd birthday passing, I'll admit I have been feeling a little old and lots of nostalgia.  Especially because the other day I learned that Mean Girls is 10 years old!!!! Sorry, what?  Anyway, yesterday was Earth Day and my roommate and I decided to make some chia pets.  All you need is:

  • 1-2 tbs chia seeds (soaked overnight)
  • potting soil
  • pots
  • old tights (nylons)
  • decorations (googly eyes, glue, paint, etc.)
  • elastics (to make ears if you wish)

After your chia seeds have soaked overnight (or all day), cut you nylon off at the foot to create a tube with one closed end (the foot) and stretch your nylon over the pot.

Place a little bit of the potting soil in the toe of the foot (this will be the pet's top of the head) and then put in a generous amount of chia seeds.  We put in a lot because we want them as hairy grassy as possible.  Then put as much potting soil in to make the chia pet as big as you would like.  To finish, tie a knot in the nylon, flip it over and put it right side up in the pot.

You can stick some rocks in the pot so the chia pet pops out further if he isn't very big.  Next draw some facial features on your chia pets and leave them in a window that gets a good amount of sun, water them and hope they grow!

Cookies 'n Cream Cookies

I'm popping up a quick recipe here because I was in desperate need of a study pick-me-up!  When I saw these cookies on Pinterest, I was like, "damn, why haven't I thought of that."

Now little tip, in the picture on Pinterest, there were the Hershey's cookies 'n cream drops, so I just assumed that's what was in the cookies but the recipe called for chopped up bars.  Well I already had bought the drops, so I was going to have to make it work, so I tweaked the recipe a little.

  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1/2 cup oil
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 tsp. baking soda
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1 tsp. baking powder
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 3 cups flour
  • 1 cup white chocolate chips
  • 1 1/2 cup Cookies N Cream Drops chopped
Bake for 7-9 minutes at 350 degrees F.

These cookies are ridiculously delicious, one of my favourite recipes of all time.  They sat out all night and are still deliciously chewy I can't stop eating them.  Safe to say I will never be one of those people who forgets to eat when they are stressed, I definitely binge eat when I'm stressed.

NOTD: Side Polka Dots

Here is a quick procrastination nail art for you guys again, I know I have been neglecting the blog but I am so excited about the upcoming summer and plan to expand and write regularly.

This mani starts with two coats of Essie's bikini so teeny and the polka dots are Essie's blanc. I made the polka dots with a unfolded Bobbi pin and sealed everything with a top coat.

Hope you guys like this! I also recently aimed up for Ipsy so look forward to I boxing posts (maybe videos?!) when I receive my first box in May!

Spring Wish List

I am SO excited for the weather to warm up.  With my birthday being in late March, it's always hit or miss with how the weather will be.  Some years its a blizzard and sometimes I can get away with jeans and a t-shirt.  This year it was rainy and pretty cold, but I still had a great day.  Regardless I am ready for springtime and here are some things I have my eyes on for the warmer weather.

White Converse

Pastel Nail Colours

The new China Glaze spring collection City Flourish is on point!

Orange/Coral Lips

Blue/Green Mirror Sunglasses

Cheaper option from Flex Watches from $25, and each pair bought they donate to charities.
I absolutely adore Kristin from Living in Colour Print's style, and her Ray Bans.
Whats on your spring wish list?
