March Favourites 2015

March has definitely been a crazy month for me, I went out to Alberta for the first time for a spontaneous vacation, Target Canada closed (I worked there part time), I wrote 8 final exams and I turned 23!  Now I'm ready for a little break before my clinical placement starts for school and to get back into blogging regularly.

Beauty Favourites:

Benefit Cosmetics Roller Lash - If you guys have not picked this up, you seriously need to go get it NOW.  I am a huge fan of Benefit's They're Real mascara but this one tops it in my books.  After watching a review from a fellow Canadian RachhLoves on youtube I knew I had to go get some.  It "hooks" your lashes to curl them and with the little bit of Chinese I have in my bloodline, I cannot get my lashes to stay curled for the life of me.  But so far this mascara has proven me wrong.

Big Sexy Hair Big Altitude Mousse - My hair dries flat and with a little bit of a wave to it depending on the weather.  Recently I have been skipping the heat (curling iron or straightener) and just putting some of this in my hair when it's damp, allowing it to air dry.  I get some volume in the roots and it keeps my hair from frizzing.

Bath and Body Work's Endless Weekend - The lotion, the shower gel and the body mist have all been on and around my skin this month.  I just love the scent so much.

Sonia Kashuk Eye Quad in Bronzed Beauty - I love these little eye quads, I actually have two of them but I have been loving the gold and bronze that this particular one has to offer this month.

Non-Beauty Favourites:

Favourite Movie - INSURGENT.  This may be the only movie I watched this month, but I enjoyed it.  I think I liked Divergent more but this one really gets you confused about what is real and what is simulation which I loved.

Favourite Music -  GUYS. It has been a serious music month for me.  So many announcements about new albums I am so excited!  Mumford and Sons' Believe, Of Monsters and Men's Crystals, and Rihanna's BBHMM have had me singing out loud in my car all day every day.

Favourite Candle - Bath and Body Work's Iced Almond Chai, sweet and spicy, smells just like an iced chai latte.

Favourite Gadget - Due to an unfortunate water incident, my iPhone 5s went for a dip and did not make it out the other side.  Hours at Futureshop later, I somehow managed to walk out with a brand new iPhone 6 for the price of refurbished one (let's just say there were a few mistakes going on with their system and Telus' system).  Its bigger, brighter and has a lot more space for all my photos!  Let me know if you guys want to see a what's on my iPhone video?

Cadbury Creme Egg Cookies

I have Spring on the brain.  These Creme Egg Cookies will get you ready and excited for Easter.

What you will need:

  • 2 1/2 cups all purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 3/4 cup cocoa
  • 1 cup butter, at room temperature
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup light brown sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • Bag of mini Cadbury Creme Eggs, unwrapped and cut in half
  • Sugar (for rolling the cookie dough balls in)

Start by putting your Mini Cadbury Creme Eggs in the fridge, this will make them a little easier to cut in half later.
Preheat oven to 375 degrees F.
Mix your dry ingredients together and set aside.
Cream butter and sugars in stand mixer.  Add eggs one at a time, followed by vanilla.
Slowly add dry ingredients with mixer on low.  Dough will be pretty wet.
Line baking sheets with silicon mat or parchment paper.  Form 1 inch balls of dough and roll in sugar until coated.  Place on baking sheet and bake in oven for 7-9 minutes.
While baking, unwrap and chop creme eggs in half.
Remove cookies from oven and while still hot, press half of a creme egg into the centre of each cookie.

Gooey goodness that only a Creme Egg can deliver.

What's your favourite easter chocolate?  Tell me in the comments below!

You could put anything in the middle of these cookies!
